Stained glass art sparks the imagination by balancing light and color.
Around Halloween, its mysterious aura makes ghosts and jack-o’-lanterns feel even more enchanting.
Residents brought spooky scenes to life with Halloween-themed stained glass art during a recent Ladies’ Night at Gabriel Homes. The idea came from Naomi Pariona, a program coordinator at Gabriel Homes, who enjoys creating new activities around the residents’ interests. Although each resident made their own artwork, they bonded over their shared love of creativity.
“Making art for the homes was such a great way to spend time together. The residents love to be creative, and it was fun to see their personalities in their art.”
Kendra Jones, Residential Counselor, Gabriel Homes
What’s The Process?
Stained glass may look intricate, but the process was quite simple. Staff purchased a few frames and printed a few spooky photos. Residents traced their photos onto the glass with a black Sharpie to form the bold outlines seen in stained glass art. Once the black lines were in place, residents flipped the photos and filled the space with color. Aluminum foil was the final secret ingredient. When placed behind the art, the reflective foil created the glowing effect associated with stained glass.
The Masterpieces
The residents hung their stained glass artwork across the walls of their main floor. Pumpkins, scarecrows, and banners already decorated the home, but the residents felt their own work brought the spirit of All Hallows Eve to life.
