Serve on the Board

A board of directors is the governing body of a nonprofit organization.

Our all-volunteer Board of Directors consist of members of the community who have a love for the mission of Gabriel Homes. Our responsibilities include governance, planning, resourcing, management, and compliance as set forth in the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws. The Board has total authority, accountability, and fiduciary responsibility for Gabriel Homes. Members of the Board lead the committees described on this page, to accomplish the goals of the organization.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of the board officers and members as specified in the bylaws. The chief functions of the Executive Committee are to plan the work of the board; approve the yearly budget by June 30th; set the Director(s) salary; review potential board members; set goals for the board meetings and set policies. As part of this committee, the Board Treasurer will oversee the creation of the budget; monitor and report on the financial status; ensure the financial policies and practices are followed; is responsible for managing the organization's finances, cash flow and audits and overall financial strategy.

Health and Welfare Committee

The Health and Welfare Committee is charged with developing a long-range plan for the care and development of our aging client population.  This will include an assessment of the clients’ physical needs (medical, adaptive equipment, etc.) and an analysis of the facilities both current and future needed to ensure their safety and well-being.  This committee will work with The Board on identifying resource commitment required and resources available for the residents’ needs.

Development Committee

The Development Committee works closely with staff and the Board Treasurer to create and implement the financial resource plan that will guide The Board’s activities in seeking out and securing funding from diverse sources, including but not limited to the annual golf tournament, grant writing, and sponsorships.  This committee will work with the staff and The Board to keep a close connection with our donor base and help create new donor relationships.

Marketing and Communication Committee

A Marketing and Communication Committee works closely with staff and The Board committees to develop and implement a marketing/communications plan that articulates the primary audiences for the organization, how best to reach them, and what they care most about. The committee monitors the presentation of the organization’s brand and ensures that the services and programs of the organization remain relevant to the audience. The committee will assist with sponsorship opportunities or packages; showcasing our sponsors on our website; using social media to promote the good works of Gabriel Homes.

Infrastructure Committee

The Infrastructure Committee works closely with the Directors and the Building and Grounds Team to inspect and report the long-term property maintenance and infrastructure of all our residence homes for safety and upkeep. These reports are reviewed yearly to ensure that the board plans appropriately for the upkeep of our homes. The Building and Grounds Team, which is part of this committee, works to maintain and monitor the properties for safety and upkeep. The work crew provides maintenance support for the homes owned by Gabriel Homes. They meet once a month and provide the maintenance services as directed by the executive director. These services include but are not limited to painting inside and out, minor electrical and plumbing needs and maintenance of yards.
