An evil queen, a Pokémon, and a bag of French fries walk into a party.

At the Gabriel Homes Boo Bash, all three were right at home. The third annual Boo Bash featured games, creative costumes, karaoke, and plenty of surprises.

The Lineup

Residents brought their A-game with this year’s Boo Bash costumes. Some reprised their roles from last year’s party: Lucy returned in her queen costume, Patrick arrived as the Pokémon Pikachu, and Chris showed up as a king.

Then the food brigade arrived. Unveiling their costumes for the first time, David dressed as a hot dog, Joe as ketchup, Sean as pizza, Sam as French fries, and program coordinator Daniel Borges as a hamburger.

“The hot dog costume looks good with all the other food! Looking at our costumes quickly made me hungry for dinner.”

Halloween Games

After some Halloween-themed games of ring toss and cornhole, residents didn’t have to wait long for their meal. Everyone had subs, salad, and drinks, followed by cupcakes made by executive director Lynn Davis for dessert.

The Moment You’ve Been Waiting For:

Like Boo Bashes in the past, karaoke took over the night. Some residents practiced their chosen songs at home, while others chose songs that matched their costumes. The crowd erupted in cheers after every song.

Residents sang:

“I sang ‘Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo’ because I was the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella! The silly words were hard to sing, but it was the perfect song for my costume.”

The Final Part of the Night

After over an hour of singing and dancing, everyone took their seats for the final event. Lynn announced the costume contest winners. Residents and staff cast their votes throughout the night, and the results were:

“I made a nametag for my costume so I looked like a real custodian. There’s a good spot in my room for my trophy. I can’t wait to show it off and tell my friends all about the Boo Bash.”
