Who says Valentine’s Day has to be romantic?
Many around the world opt to celebrate Galentine’s Day instead. Often celebrated on February 13, these women-centered events highlight the value of uplifting one another.
Galentine’s Day at Gabriel Homes
On the eve of Valentine’s Day, a few residents at Gabriel Homes celebrated their close friendships with a Galentine’s trip to The Cheesecake Factory. Angie, January, Lucy (pictured left to right), and program coordinator Naomi Pariona wanted to spend time away from home on a Friday night, and they agreed dinner would be the best outing.
“Food is the best way to show other people that you love them. There isn’t a better way to show your love for your best friends than a Valentine’s dinner!”
January, Gabriel Homes Resident
The residents showed a wide range of tastes in their meal choices.
Starting with drinks, Lucy ordered root beer, Angie asked for lemonade, and January went with a Shirley Temple. For main courses, Lucy had spaghetti and meatballs, Angie got a BLT sandwich, and January ate fish and chips with cloeslaw. At the Cheesecake Factory, everyone’s dessert choices were easy to guess. Lucy opted for an Oreo cheesecake, Angie chose a plain cheesecake, and January picked a Funfetti cheesecake.

“I could barely move after dinner – I ate way too much! When all you think about is the food in front of you, you end up eating more than you mean to!”

A successful outing
On the way home, the three residents were beaming with joy. Each of them said they loved the food, but they agreed that each other’s company was even better. Sharing a meal with friends was all they needed to celebrate.
“I think I like Galentine’s Day more,” Lucy joked. “Who wouldn’t want to spend the night out with their best friends?”
